Prototype: The Swiss class ABe 8/12 electric railcar, which is also known as the Allegra, is a meter gauge multiple unit train of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). The Allegra was delivered between 2009 and 2011 for the main railway network in Canton of Graubunden, Switzerland. The ABe 8/12 are fitted with duel voltage electrical equipment to enable them to operate on both the AC main line of the Rhaetian Railway and on the powered DC line of the Bernina Railway. The ABe 8/12s are equipped with air conditioned compartments, a pleasant view of the track directly behind the driver, and a handicap accessibility floor in middle compartment. The Class ABe 8/12 Allegra is a substantial railcar that is still in service today.
