The original ship, after which this model was designed, was built in 1930. A large number of these tankers were built for the canals and rivers of Germany, Belgium and Holland. Their length and width was chosen very carefully, so that they could pass all bridges and obstacles along the way.
Even today, where the ships on the main waterways have become very much bigger, these oil tankers are still in use to reach industrial areas along smaller canals and rivers.
